The Coen Brothers Set Up ‘Fargo’ TV Series at FX

The Coen Brothers line up a Fargo TV series at FX Filmmakers Joel Coen and Ethan Coen are teaming up with FX for an hour-long TV series loosely based on their 1996 classic Fargo. The brothers will executive produce alongside Noah Hawley, who is writing the pilot script, and Warren Littlefield.

MGM Television is co-producing with FX Productions. MGM produced and distributed the Fargo movie, and owns the rights. The TV division is also behind the small screen reboot Teen Wolf on MTV.

Fargo starred William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi, Peter Stormare, and Frances McDormand, who took home a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Sheriff Marge Gunderson. The story centers on a plot to kidnap a car salesman's wife that goes terribly awry. No details were given regarding the story line for this new series.

Noah Hawley started out as a writer for the Fox series Bones. He went on to create The Unusuals and My Generation for ABC.

Fargo was released March 15th, 1996.
