The Dark Knight Rises is shaping up to be the most hotly anticipated movie of 2012, while still nine months away from its July 20, 2012 release date. A new report has surfaced indicating Warner Bros. plans to attach a six-minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises to IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.

If this turns out to be true, it will be an odd move for Warner Bros., attaching a highly-anticipated prologue to a Paramount Pictures movie. However, Warner Bros. does not have any IMAX titles slated for release in December, and Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol will likely skew towards the same audience of The Dark Knight Rises. We reported earlier this month that Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol will open in IMAX theaters on December 16, five days ahead of its general wide release on December 21.

Warner Bros. employed a similar tactic in December 2007, when it attached the opening minutes of The Dark Knight to prints of I Am Legend. Warner Bros. would not officially comment on the story, so we'll be sure to keep you posted on news of this special preview for The Dark Knight Rises as soon as we have more information.
