Tom Hardy has this to say about wearing the soon-to-be iconic Bane mask for the duration of the shoot.

"It's not as bad as you might think. You just put it on. Work out where you drool goes. That's it. Mask work is good fun. This one wasn't painful; there was the stunt mask and there was the up-close on for the sexy glam shots."

He also chatted about his eating habits in keeping Bane a mass of bulk.

"[I was] Eating entire villages of chickens. When I started I was about 160-something pounds. When I was done I was 190. You lift weights. You eat. You lift some more weights. You don't run anywhere because if you do cardio, you drop weight. So it's really good for heart attacks!"

Be sure to check out the latest issue of Total Film, on newsstands around the country.

The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012.

    @bawnian-dexeus I wonder if Banes past that you've explained to ROFLitschristian will be shown in the Dark Knight Rises?

        @ROFLitschristian Of course.

        In the Nolanverse, Its a Gasmask for the purpose to induce a calm mind to the character. He surffered a trauma in his younger days and the mask produces an anesthetic to make sure he's demons don't haunt him psychologically and the pain reduced to a minimum, hence the IMAX preview as to why he won't take the mask off.

                @newtron your opinion is your opinion and i wouldnt mock that, but tom hardy not imposing, did you see warrior, his character was an animal. he looked unstoppable, add 30 or so pounds. but i do see your point he cant be more than 5'9" or 5'10", compared to bales 6' or 6' 1" size. movie magic.

                        I think Nolan has done a great job with Bane. Tom Hardy was a great pick and he will do this part justice. I see Ann also surprising the doubters. The outfit isn't that bad looking. I like Nolan's more realistic approach and Bane doesn't need Venom. In fact in the comic books he gets over his dependency of Venom. When its all said and done this will be an epic movie. I am not looking forward to a reboot so soon, I hope Superman does well so they can get JLA going.

                          @newtron Well, since the reboot will happen for JLA in the future, as long as Bane is kept smart, I don't see the problem for who plays him. No doubt he'll get his venom in the end

                              @ChiRep-1 I hated Capt. America's new suit at first. But once I saw Avengers, it did not matter. I'm sure the same will be said for Catwoman.

                                  So, what do y'all think about the idea of Vin Diesel playing Bane? I know, at this point, it really doesn't matter, but I don't think there's anything wrong with toying around with an idea. And I'm really curious to see what you guys think. After thinking about it myself, I think that Vin Diesel fits the bill when it comes to his size, physique, and athleticism. However, I wonder if he would be able to portray Bane as the intellectual brawler that he is. And that's not a knock on Vin (lol), I'm just wondering if he would do an effective job with the mental side of Bane because of the types of roles he had in past. On the other hand, you have Tom Hardy, who doesn't seem very imposing to me, but for what he lacks in stature, I think he will more than make up for in with the character's mental edge. And in the end, knowing Nolan (and I don't, but love his movies), I think Bane's mind is what's gonna matter and win people over. Thoughts? Anyone?

                                      @caifa Well I think Bane's supposed to be a big, imposing guy. I mean, look at some of his comic book appearances. Granted it's a comic book, but still.

                                        this movie is gonna be epic, i mean tom hardy cast for bane was the best idea they came up with he fits the part perfect, as for anne hathaway as cat woman i cant really say anything until i watch her performance, and joseph gordon-levitts character sounds promising
