Another day, another lofty The Dark Knight Rises rumor. This information comes from a source reportedly within director Christopher Nolan's inner circle, a camp known to litter the Internet landscape with falsehoods and misinformation in order to throw the core fanbase and everyone else with a tiny bit of vested interest off their righteous path.
This news comes with a confirmation that it's quite possibly true. Then again, maybe not. We all know that Anne Hathaway is playing Selina Kyle in the upcoming sequel, and the actress herself confirmed on Monday that she will be appearing in costume as Catwoman. Today's news suggests that, while Selina's role in the beginning of the film is ambiguous, by the end of the story, she will no longer be a villain, but rather an ally of Batman.
The duo will reportedly be taking on The League of Shadows in The Dark Knight Rises' breathtaking climax, which will be filmed with IMAX cameras. The League of Shadows is rumored to be headed by the as-yet uncast Talia Al'Ghul and her possible love interest Bane (Tom Hardy). Joseph Gordon-Levitt will also be a member of The League of Shadows, but it is not known if he will be playing Black Mask, as previously suspected. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will definitely be playing a bad guy. That much is true. Supposedly.
As Badass Digest, the source of this information, points out, the folks in Christopher Nolan's inner circle are purposely spreading false rumors, and a lot of them only have partial information. So take all of this with a smile and a grain of salt, and remember: Sometimes the speculation is more fun than actually sitting through the finished film itself. Heck, it's half the journey.
