We are just hours away from fanboys flooding theaters nationwide for midnight screenings of The Dark Knight Rises. It is a certainty that director Christopher Nolan's epic Batman finale will be a hit, there is only the question of how big a hit it will become. A new report reveals that The Dark Knight Rises has already raked in a whopping $25 million in pre-sales leading up to opening weekend.

Fandango also reports that this franchise finale is accounting for a massive 91% of their ticket sales for Thursday, with MovieTickets.com reporting that The Dark Knight Rises accounts for 87.5% of their Thursday sales.

This blockbuster-to-be will be rolled out in 3,700 theaters nationwide for midnight screenings, with several theaters planning on holding screenings throughout the wee hours of the morning. It will open in 4,404 North American theaters tomorrow, the second-widest opening in cinematic history, just 64 theaters behind record-holder The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.

The real question is can The Dark Knight Rises best Marvel's The Avengers' seemingly-insurmountable three-day record of $207.4 million? We will find out on Sunday when the official box office numbers are released.
