The Day After Tomorrow: According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Roland Emmerich's The Day After Tomorrow sold 2.6 million combined DVD and VHS units nationwide Tuesday, generating $47 million in consumer spending during its first day in release, executives at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment said.

The actioner, starring Dennis Quaid, generated about $72 million in global consumer spending Tuesday, taking into account sales from North America, Japan, Germany, Australia, Spain and Korea, Fox executives said. That global Day 1 cume does not include the United Kingdom, France or Italy, where the video has yet to be released.

The special edition of the Walt Disney Co.'s animated Aladdin was the best-selling DVD and VHS its debut week ending October 10th, according to Nielsen VideoScan's First Alert sales charts.
