‘The Evil Dead’ First Look Photo with Jane Levy Possessed by a Deadite!

"Swallow your soul! Swallow your soul!" Suburgatory's Jane Levy is taking over the Ash role, originated by Bruce Campbell, in the upcoming remake of The Evil Dead, which arrives in theaters this spring. Entertainment Weekly has our first look at the actress possessed by the deadites. Those familiar with Sam Raimi's trilogy will recognize the cellar door right away, so hopefully director Fede Alvarez is headed in the right direction. We hear that this is going to be beyond gory. So gory, in fact, it will receive an NC-17 during its first pass through the MPAA, though Screen Gems has an obligation to release it with an R rating. So we'll just have to wait until the Unrated director's cut for the real deal!

@psychobilly13 Oh wow! It does bare a striking resemblance to Regan from the Exorcist. Can't believe I didn't see that before.

This actually looks like a picture of Cheryl and not Ash. There wasn't supposed to be an Ash character. It was supposed to be all new characters from what one story was saying. We all know that Ashley (Ash's whole name) is a female name but If Ash isn't a dude in this, I'm not really that into it. And in The Evil Dead, they were Kandarian Demons not Deadites. Deadites didn't come until Army of Darkness. And "Swallow your soul" was from Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn. It at least had better get an NC-17. I'm with @SpaceCowboy. Break out those white Sclera lenses. And there better be a pencil to the heel stabing.

Yeah, she does look an awful lot like Regan from the Exorcist, which happens to be my favorite movie. Evil Dead 2 is a close second. Stoked for this

I'll give it a chance, just wish it was a sequel instead.

White out those eyes and make it NC-17 and then maybe I'll give two sh*ts about the movie.

Looks good to me, they can make it work. Unlike Carrie, there's some stuff there to play with.

Oh, come on people, give it a chance! It's probably the only horror remake you'll ever get that has the full support of the originals' creators.

This looks worse than the Carrie reboot. And that is saying something.
