In a story from Variety, Spike TV has put together a deal with Lionsgate for the rights to air The Expendables in its first broadcast window. The premiere is scheduled for April 2013.

The Sylvester Stallone film opened Friday at No. 1 and has grossed $38.8 million through Monday.

"We're committed to monetizing our strong slate of films in all distribution platforms, and Spike has proven to be a perfect partner for our action thrillers," said Kevin L. Beggs, Lionsgate TV group president.

This past June, Spike licensed Lionsgate's Kick-Ass, along with Bangkok Dangerous, Gamer and From Paris with Love.

"We look forward to a continuing pipeline of action thrillers from (Lionsgate) in the future," stated Spike president Kevin Kay.
