Less than one week after it was revealed that CW's Arrow spin-off The Flash will feature the DC Comics character Plastique, E! Online reports that actress Kelly Frye has signed on to play the explosive character.

The initial report hinted that Plastique, a.k.a. Sgt. Bette Sans Souci, will be an ally to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), which indicates that the series is straying from the character's comic book roots as a villain. This new report reveals that the character was a bomb disposal expert in Iraq, who was given the ability to turn everything she touches into a bomb, due to exposure from the same S.T.A.R. Labs meltdown that gave Barry his super speed. She is reportedly on the run from nefarious U.S. government forces who want to use her as a weapon, when she finds an ally in Barry Allen.

Aside from series regulars such as Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Rick Cosnett, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and Jesse L. Martin, Kelly Frye joins a growing cast that includes Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm (Robbie Amell).

Kelly Frye most recently appeared in a multi-episode arc on the short-lived Fox comedy series Rake.
