Director Peter Jackson is currently in production on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in New Zealand, working towards a December 14, 2012 release date. Actor Andy Serkis recently revealed the first teaser trailer will hit theaters sometime around Christmas.

Take a look at what Andy Serkis had to say below.

"There will be a trailer fairly soon, actually. Around Christmas time, I believe. It's just around the corner."

That statement brings up speculation as to what movie we might see this highly-anticipated teaser in front of. The smart money is on either Warner Bros.' Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, debuting in theaters December 16, or DreamWorks' The Adventures of Tintin, which opens December 21. Warner Bros. is distributing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Peter Jackson executive produced The Adventures of Tintin, which also stars Andy Serkis. The actor also discussed his work as second unit director on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

"It's quite fascinating. I'm having a ball. It's a huge operation, really. We're on the road at the moment, at various different locations on South Island in New Zealand. There are some truly remarkable landscapes that we're filming in. It's just stunning."
