‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ Production Video

Director Peter Jackson has released the eleventh production video blog for his The Hobbit trilogy, the first since The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey debuted in theaters this past December. With a specific eye on the completion of this year's second installment The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Peter introduces this behind-the-scenes look at the sequel with the disappointing announcement that he is far too busy completing pick-up shots in New Zealand to attend Comic-Con 2013. As such, none of the actors will available either. But that doesn't mean new and exciting posters and videos won't debut during the four day event. Take a look at the latest happenings on the set of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug with the new Dwarvicise phenomenon, and watch the elves get some action as the cast and crew take you even deeper into this legendary saga.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released December 14th, 2012.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was released December 13th, 2013.

This blog had me smiling almost all the way through. No film set has ever appeared to be as fun and casual as Jacksons' film sets consistently have, and the atmosphere is just intoxicating. Oh, and I'm definitely looking forward to the winter scenes. It's a pity about comic-con, but definitely understandable.
