New actress Willow Shields has landed a major role in The Hunger Games, portraying Primrose Everdeen.

In the Suzanne Collins novel, it is actually Primrose a.k.a. Prim who gets selected to go to The Hunger Games, before her older sister Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) takes Prim's place.

Gary Ross is directing The Hunger Games from an adapted screenplay by Billy Ray, with Nina Jacobson producing. Production will likely start in the near future, with a March 23, 2012 release date already set.

Willow Shields only has three acting credits to her name, including a short film, a guest starring role on In Plain Sight, and a role in the TV movie Beyond the Blackboard, which airs on CBS this coming Sunday.
