‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Gets Writer Danny Strong

The ‘Game Change’ screenwriter will tackle both movies in this two-part finale that closes out the franchise based on Suzanne Collins' novels.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Gets Writer Danny Strong

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay gets writer Danny StrongGame Change screenwriter Danny Strong has signed on to write The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 for Lionsgate. He will adapt the screenplay from Suzanne Collins' final novel in her trilogy. No director has been attached for the two-part finale as of yet.

Production is currently under way on the The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the follow-up to this year's blockbuster The Hunger Games, which has earned more than $685 million worldwide. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, and Woody Harrelson all reprise their roles in the sequel.

Danny Strong won an Emmy award last week for his Game Change script. He also wrote The Butler for director Lee Daniels, which is currently shooting in New Orleans.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 was released November 21st, 2014.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 comes to theaters November 20th, 2015.
