‘The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra’ First Look and Voice Cast Announced

Nickelodeon has revealed the first look at art and the voice cast for its upcoming series The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra (via Speakeasy), the anticipated follow-up to its animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which will premiere next year.

The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra

The cast includes:

  • Janet Varney as Korra

    Kiernan Shipka as Jinora

Daniel Dae Kim as Hiroshi Sato

    David Faustino as Mako

    Seychelle Gabriel as Asami

    Lance Henriksen as Lieutenant

    P.J. Byrne as Bolin

    J.K. Simmons as Tenzin

The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang - a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern "Avatar" world, Republic City - a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.

its also being said that Dante Basco, who did the voice for Zuko, is coming back to the show to voice a character that is in some way connected to Zuko...son or grandson perhaps?

@ejk1...Maybe a good start to make a corrective film for TLA would be to pronounce the characters names correctly, that bothered me for some reason, dont know everybody else felt about it...

It ws said sometime before that past Avatar characters might or could make appearances in this series, Aang is a give in since Korra will be able to communicate with him being the Avatar before her, but with it being 70 years later, who else would be able to appear on this show?...Toph maybe?...an old Zuko still being the firelord?

Mini-series no longer? It has been picked with 14 more episodes! I can't wait!

                      Welcome, Avatar Korra.

@ejk1 And that is where a reboot is necessary. And I;m still waiting on a reboot of Eragon

@bounded I agree that Whedon is great with female leads, but long before this ever makes the big screen, a corrective film series would need to be done for the original series.

You know who could make a kick-ass live adaptation of this new series? Joss Wheldon. He's good with female lead roles, comedy and action. It all fits. I know people are still weary from the last adaptation, but with the right director, and right script, along with Brian and Mike as consultants/executive producers, they could really hit it out of the park. Of course we have to see the animated series first xP.

@comicbookfan JK Simmons was psychologist Emil Skola on Law & Order for years. He may also be on The Closer, but I'm not sure.
