According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Home Entertainment's The Longest Yard made a fast dash to the top of the DVD sales and rental charts the week ending Sept. 25, giving Hollywood a lucrative jump-start on the fourth-quarter selling season.

The Adam Sandler-starring remake of the classic 1974 football movie, which with a theatrical take of $158 million is the year's No. 9 boxoffice grosser, scored an easy victory on VideoScan's First Alert sales chart, outselling second-place finisher The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, from Buena Vista, by a margin of nearly 4-to-1.
