NBC has "quietly reached out" to actors Danny McBride and Rhys Darby to possibly replace Steve Carell on The Office, according to Ausiello Files.

We reported at the end of July that NBC confirmed Steve Carell was leaving the show after the upcoming seventh season when his contract expires. It was said the network was contacting McBride and Darby to, "gauge their interest in joining the cast later this season."

The site was able to confirm with showrunner Paul Lieberstein that they are, "having discussions" about bringing in a new Dunder Mifflin salesman on the show, although that person wouldn't necessarily be replacing Carell's character, Michael Scott.

"We haven't settled exactly who will take over," says Lieberstein, who also brought up the possibility that they could promote a current cast member into Michael Scott's position.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further news regarding The Office as soon as we have more information.
