Matthew McConaughey, Tobey Maguire, Sofía Vergara, and Zac Efron have joined the cast of The Paperboy for Millennium Films.

The project is an adaptation of Peter Dexter's 1995 novel of the same name, which follows a Miami Times reporter who comes back to his Florida hometown to investigate a death row inmate and how he was imprisoned.

Lee Daniels will direct The Paperboy, which was being developed for over a decade by filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar and author Peter Dexter. Lee Daniels will produce alongside Hilary Shor, with Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, and Danny Dimbort executive producing. Here's what Avi Lerner had to say about the project.

"This is a good film for us, a project that has Pedro Almodóvar attached, is set in the steamy South, directed by Lee Daniels, Hilary Shor producing, and with the incredible cast of Matthew, Tobey, Sofía, and Zac."

It isn't known when production will start on The Paperboy yet.
