Darth Vader's helmet gets destroyed in the latest poster from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. We've already seen Vader's burnt mask in the promotional material for the highly anticipated movie. However, it's not clear what is going on in the scene where Kylo Ren and Rey destroy the helmet and the pedestal that it rests on. Are they fighting against each other, or are they fighting alongside each other to kill the past? Lucasfilm and Disney still have everything under wraps, which is impressive considering that the movie hits theaters next week. Speaking of which, Lucasfilm has released a new TV spot announcing nine days until the movie opens.

The Rise of Skywalker poster was done by Skinner Creative and was shared by the official Star Wars Twitter account. We've seen a lot of great posters for the final installment in the Skywalker Saga, but this one is pretty impressive. The burnt out Darth Vader helmet is covered by flying debris from the pedestal it once sat on. Kylo Ren and Rey's Lightsabers are seen clashing right in the center, which is the cause of the destruction. The red and blue coloring fits really well with the black and white imagery.

There have been teases of a huge Star Wars plot twist for a certain character, and many are under the assumption that it's Kylo Ren. The Rise of Skywalker has seen the word redemption attached to it a number of times over the last several months, but Adam Driver doesn't seem to think that's the case, though he could be misdirecting Star Wars fans. Even with the movie set to hit theaters next week, we still don't know about the official storyline or any specific details. With that being said, it wouldn't be all too shocking to see Kylo Ren make some big changes.

In addition to the new poster, Lucasfilm has also released a new TV spot for The Rise of Skywalker. The spot reveals that we only have nine days left before the movie hits theaters and teases some new dialogue from Emperor Palpatine while also showing off a longer look at his creepy throne. However, we still have yet to see his face in a trailer or TV spot. It's hard to believe, but we're only nine days away from the end.

The Rise of Skywalker is putting an end to over 40 years-worth of storytelling. Expectations are currently really high and it's going to be impossible to satisfy everybody. J.J. Abrams was more than aware of this when he signed on to take on the project. However, the director is confident in the story that they were able to craft and believes they gave the Skywalker Saga a fitting end. There are some really good links to the past shown in the promotional material, but will it be enough to keep things new at the same time? That is the real question for the upcoming movie.

Rian Johnson was criticized for taking The Last Jedi too far away from the Star Wars franchise, while J.J. Abrams was criticized for not taking enough chances and playing it safe with The Force Awakens. The Rise of Skywalker is going to have a balance, which is a delicate one. Regardless, the promotional material for the upcoming threequel has gotten a lot of fans excited, mainly because Abrams and crew are giving away what seems like a lot in the trailers. What is the director's angle? What is he hiding? Thankfully, we don't have to wait too much longer to find out. The Rise of Skywalker poster was shared by the official Star Wars Twitter account.
