Yet another Star Wars 9 TV spot has been released. We are treated to a ton of new footage packed into a nice 30-second block teasing the final installment in the sequel trilogy. However, the most notable scene in the latest footage features Rey handling the mysterious Sith Dagger. We have seen it in previously released footage, but not as clear as what we have today. Some fans were under the impression that the mysterious knife was actually the Dagger of Mortis, but it appears it is not. We'll get into that below. There are possible Spoilers for Star Wars 9 below, so read ahead at your own risk.

The latest TV spot for The Rise of Skywalker is reportedly called "Sith Dagger." That has not been confirmed by anyone at Lucasfilm or Disney as of this writing. Regardless, we have a new scene with Rey using the dagger for what seems to be a compass or location device. As for her location, it looks like she used it to possibly locate the Death Star wreckage as evidenced by the background in the shot. This ties in with a recent C-3PO theory that has been making the rounds.

In The Rise of Skywalker, C-3PO will reportedly go through some reprogramming since he cannot read the writing on the mysterious blade. It has been rumored that the droid's programming will not allow him access to the blade's writing, which is why he has to go through the changes and why he has the red eyes. Once 3PO is reprogrammed, the blade is deciphered and Rey is able to have it lead her to the destination.

This leads us into some questions. For one, what exactly is Rey looking for with the Sith Dagger? Is she actively looking for Emperor Palpatine? It seems like the dagger is some kind of magical map that will ultimately lead to Palpatine in some way. Could the map also be used as a weapon and something to finally take down Palpatine after all of this time? There are currently a lot more questions than answers at this point in time, but the addition of the Sith Dagger in the new TV spot is very intriguing, to say the least.

It is still possible that the Sith Dagger is really the Dagger of Mortis, just under a different name to avoid having to go into Clone Wars territory. At this point, it's unclear since we don't have official confirmation on the name. As for more questions, where does Rey get her hands on the Sith Dagger? Another theory floating around has to do with the Knights of Ren obtaining it and The Resistance getting it from them. Again, this is has not been officially confirmed.
