It seems that the latest Cormac McCarthy adaptation might not even be ready for Oscar contention. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Road has been pushed from its November 14 release to a tentative release in December 2008 but the film might even be delayed until next year.

The Weinstein Co., which is distributing the film, will meet with the film's producers on Thursday to determine a release schedule. The film, directed by John Hilcoat, had been considered an award favorite, but sources close to the production claim the film is nowhere near completion.

"There's no question Harvey wants this for 2008. But it may just not be feasible," an insider said.
