Warner Bros. is in negotiations to bring on David Yates to direct and Steve Kloves to script the adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 novel The Stand, reports HitFix.

The Stand tells the story of a full-scale apocalypse, driven by the accidental release of a biological weapon and the ensuing struggle of good versus evil carried out by the world's final survivors.

The Stand was previously adapted as a television miniseries in 1994. Warner Bros. is planning on developing several films based on the Stephen King novel.

No production date has been set.
