‘The Three Stooges’ Getting Johnny Knoxville as Moe?

Johnny Knoxville is Moe in The Three Stooges? It's been rumored for a while, but it really does look like directors Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly are looking to set Johnny Knoxville as Moe Howard in their modern update of The Three Stooges, and Knoxville is interested in the coveted role.

The Farrelly brothers have been looking to cast the part of Moe in order to zero in on Larry Fine and Curly Howard. While Fox had no comment, sources close to the project saythe Farrellys are waiting for Johnny Knoxville to officially accept, as negotiations have not formally begun.

Knoxville's casting would signal a major shift in direction for the project, which initially had Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Jim Carrey circling the roles. Knoxville represents an attempt to appeal to younger audiences who are mostly unfamiliar with the Stooges.

The Three Stooges was released April 13th, 2012.

With as popular as the Stooges still are, I'm surprised so many people on here don't want this movie to be made. I like Knoxville but feel this film would be much better served by using the 3 original actors. Sure, nobody will ever be able to perform their act as well as they did, but to tell their story properly, you need better actors than Knoxville imo.

        • everyone knows who the stooges are!!! and making someone like johnny knoxville moe isnt gonna make it any better to appeal to a younger audience. i hate when stupid ass studios think like this that if they get younger actors then it will attract more younger audience. they did the same sh*t with the last oscars and it sucked. The original cast was a great choice, and this film actually looked like it stood a chance, now that they will most likely get knoxville they will prob be dumb enough to get andy sandburgh or timberlake. jus so it can appeal more better to the "youths".

This could have been a great movie with real actors. Greg Kinnear and Matt Damon did great with Farrelly Brothers material. But these hacky deuchebags won't get my ticket money.

Man at one time I was hyped for this film but thats only when they had Del Toro as Moe, Jim Carrey as Curly, and Sean Pean as Larry. Now with the announcement of Johnny knox as Moe and Justin Timberlake as Larry this is looking to be a run of the mill pointless comedy movie trying to cash in lol
