Summit Entertainment rolled out The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 in thousands of theaters across the country at midnight last night, taking in an impressive $30.25 million. The latest chapter in this vampire saga cemented the second highest gross from a midnight debut, behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, which earned a whopping $43.5 million back in July.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 opened in 3,521 theaters last night, and the sequel expands to 4,061 theaters today. By comparison, Twilight took in $7 million during its midnight screenings in 2008, which was a box office record at the time. The Twilight Saga: New Moon earned $26.3 million from midnight debuts, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse took in $30.1 million during its midnight run.

It is said that Summit estimates The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 to earn between $110 and $125 million, although analysts believe it could easily eclipse that mark.
