The CW Network is giving more life to an immortal race and also to some chic L.A. residents. According to Variety, CW has given a full-season order to The Vampire Diaries and has also ordered more episodes of Melrose Place.

The network issued a back-nine order for The Vampire Diaries, but only ordered five new episodes of Melrose Place, which is struggling in ratings. It was said that the network is hoping for a big ratings boost when original series star Heather Locklear appears in the remake series.

Both series have aired six episodes to date, with The Vampire Diaries averaging an impressive 3.9 million viewers per episode while Melrose Place has seen far less with just 1.7 million viewers on average.
