Netflix has shown recently that not only are they trying to be winners of the streaming service wars, but they have an excellent chance of doing so if they continue to crank out notable material such as they have been. From original movies to adapted series, Netflix has made a point of delivering as much content as it possibly can for its hundreds of millions of subscribers. One such show they've created that has been a worldwide success is The Witcher, based on the book series (not the popular video game franchise) of the same name, starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

The Witcher, a fantasy series centered around a universe inhabited by monsters and a magical bounty-hunter hell-bent on killing every last one of them, has become a praised phenomenon for Netflix, topping several rating charts and earning a surplus of awards. The second season of the coveted series was released back in December (two years prior to the first season airing) and quickly reminded fans why they fell in love with the grumpy White-Wolf in the first place. That being said, the second season delved much further into the fantasy lore of the books than the first season did, which makes sense as the first season was setting up an entire magical world. But it left audiences with questions that they hope to see answered in the upcoming third season.

What Does Ciri's Future Hold?

There are more minor questions, such as where are Geralt, Yen (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) going? Will Ciri become a Witcher? Will she learn to control her magical powers? These can all be summarized under one more significant question: what does Ciri's future hold? In the first season, it was evident by the end that Ciri would play a key role in the remainder of the series and that her connection to Geralt was always meant to be significant.

Then season 2 opened Pandora's Box and informed audiences that Ciri wasn't just a character in a key role. She was the literal key to the entire series. With so much pressure on the young girl's shoulders and seemingly having no clue how crucial she is to the rest of the universe, it's highly presumed that season 3 will follow in season 2's footsteps and also center primarily around Ciri. Hopefully, this will give audiences and fans a bit more information about how her fate ties into everything else going on.

Will It Dive Further Into the White Flame?

For a series titled The Witcher, it's interesting how few future questions revolve around Geralt and his journey. After all, his role for the foreseeable future was pretty much set in stone when he took over as Ciri's guardian -- i.e., he'll be looking after/trying to protect her in a father-figure role. With that being said, the second main question for season 3 pertains to the massive reveal that season 2 concluded with Ciri's father, Duny (Bart Edwards), being the White Flame.

While fans of the books knew that this outcome would arise, the books don't make the reveal until much further down the chronological line (almost until the end of the book series). With a reveal that drawn-out not being possible for a television series (audiences would get tired of waiting), it forced the writers to give the information to audiences as quickly and coherently as possible. However, with a reported seven overall seasons being planned for The Witcher, it definitely has fans wondering how much we'll be seeing Duny in season 3 or if the reveal was more of a prelude for what Geralt and Ciri will have to overcome in seasons even further down the line.

What Is the Bard’s Debt & Who Is Lydia’s Employer?

The Witcher is no slouch when it comes to planting seeds for future stories. So many moments were hinted at during season 2 that it would be virtually impossible to discuss them all. However, two particular moments from the season 2 finale were left on cliffhangers, leaving fans scratching their heads and eagerly waiting for more answers. These would be the Bard's (Joey Batey) commitment to the magician Dijkstra (Graham McTavish) and the mysterious employer of Lydia (Aisha Fabienne Ross) and Rience (Chris Fulton). Fans were heartbroken when Geralt and the Bard split up in season 1 and rejoiced when the Bard reappeared in season 2, helping smuggle elves out of Oxenfurt to Cintra.

However, it was revealed that the Bard was being supported by the shady magician Dijkstra and that he owes a debt to his benefactor. Fans don't know what the debt will cost but suffice to say, it will be a steep price. Another question that left audiences dangling for more is who is Lydia's employer? Season 2 ended with Lydia finally introducing Rience, the fire magician, to her employer. She also revealed that she had horribly scarred her face by trying to trace Ciri's blood mixed with the Witcher mutagen. Even if audiences don't get an answer about who Lydia's employer is, they still want answers about why Ciri's blood disfigured her face in such a gruesome manner.
