In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Thomas Dekker (A Nightmare on Elm Street) has come aboard HBO Films' Cinema Verite. The film is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the groundbreaking 1970s documentary An American Family.

The project was written by David Seltzer and starts production this summer in Los Angeles.

When An American Family started on PBS in 1973, it was "the first show to document a real-life family dealing with such problems as divorce and sexual identity."

Tim Robbins and Diane Lane will play the parents Bill and Pat Loud. Thomas Dekker is going to portray their son Lance. He became the center of much scrutiny when he came out as a gay man during the show.
