\Thomas Sangster may have recently secured the title role in Tintin, the film trilogy to be directed, in part, by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson. According to a report in London's Daily Mail, Sangster has already been to Los Angeles to work on preproduction scenes with both directors.

Sangster has previously appeared in Love Actually, where he worked with Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson and Bill Nighy, and Nanny McPhee, where he again worked with Thompson.

Sangster's agent refused to confirm the details about his involvement with Tintin, however a film executive in Los Angeles said "Thomas seems to be the one. He was just great, but I'm not certain if anything has been finalized yet."

Filming for Tintin begins in Fall of 2008. Steven Spielberg will direct the first film in the trilogy, with Peter Jackson directing the second. It is still unknown who will direct the third. Various rumors suggest that Jackson and Spielberg may co-direct, or that James Cameron may helm the third film.

In the comic created by Herge, Tintin is a young Belgian reporter and world traveler who is aided in his adventures by his faithful dog Snowy. He later was joined by such colorful characters as Captain Haddock, Professor Cuthbert Calculus and bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson. The books, hugely popular in Europe, have been translated into 50 languages with more than 200 million copies sold.
