‘Thor 2’ Gets Director Alan Taylor

Thor 2 gets director Alan Taylor Earlier this month, Patty Jenkins stepped down as the director of Thor 2. Marvel Studios moved quickly to find a replacement, and just a few days later had narrowed down the playing field to just two men, Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan, both of whom had directed episodes of HBO's wildly popular series Game of Thrones.

Alan Taylor has been crowned the winner, and will officially direct Thor 2 for Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. The man has one directorial feature under his belt with Palookaville, and he has also helmed some of the best episodes of Mad Men, Nurse Jackie, and Boardwalk Empire.

Thor 2 is now back on the fast track, and will still meet its November 15th, 2013 release date. Chris Hemsworth is returning to reprise his role as the hammer-wielding Norse god.

Thor: The Dark World was released November 8th, 2013.

I'm guessing that Thor 2's release date is probably going to be switched to some time in Summer 2013, considering that the first movie "Thor" was released in early Summer 2011?

Awesome let's see what he can do and make sure he doesn't f*ck it up! i'm getting sick of this switching director thing. Let us for once hope that marvel has made their choice.

Alan Taylor's recent credits "ALSO" include: "Boardwalk Empire" and "Nurse Jackie", and he directed the feature "Palookaville".

I hope Alan Taylor is good ....he did direct the pilot for "The Playboy Club" series!

By his list of credits, it seems he directs more Tv than film!

I would have preferred someone with a higher profile, but this isn't the worst choice.

Well, better than Patty Jenkins.....but still not so sure how good of a thing that is overall.

I guess we will find out in about a year and a half.....not that I'm really holding out for it. I'm Not that much of a Thor fan, especially after the first one. But that's just me.

Things haven't been going good so far with Thor 2, let's hope all the madness was worth it. Make us proud Mr. Taylor.
