Just a few days ago, Marvel started production on its new Phase 3 adventure Thor: Ragnarok, which has been set for release on November 3, 2017. The studio unveiled the full cast and concept art back in May but they still haven't announced any official plot details at this time. There have been a number of story rumors swirling about before filming began, and it seems that star Chris Hemsworth may have inadvertently confirmed at least part of these rumors.

Just yesterday, Chris Hemsworth sent out the first video from the set, although he wasn't in costume. His Instgram post featured the hashtag #whereismyhammer, but today in another Instagram photo, he had a little fun with his fans, posting a photo of a traditional hammer one would find in any ordinary toolbox. The actor also teased that fans should, "expect big and little changes," which leads into the previous rumors.

Back in January, before Cate Blanchett was officially confirmed as the Marvel Comics villain Hela, a report claimed that Hela is joining forces with Thor's villainous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), as Hela banishes Thor from Asgard while destroying his iconic hammer Mjolnir. Naturally, that was never confirmed, but it was believed that this banishment is what leads Thor to go on a "cosmic road trip" with Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. Other rumors followed which claimed that, after his banishment from Asgard, Thor winds up on a gladiator planet, where he's forced to fight the current champion, Hulk.

Naturally, this photo of a regular hammer doesn't necessarily confirm the previous rumors, and it's possible that the actor, having heard the rumors himself, is just toying with his Instagram followers. All we do know for sure is that Thor, Hulk and Loki will be joined by a few new characters, including Cate Blanchett's Hela, Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster, Karl Urban's Skurge and Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie. Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins are also set to return as Heimdall and Odin, respectively.

Taika Waititi is directing Thor: Ragnarok from a script by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle and Stephany Folsom. Production is scheduled to run through October at Village Roadshow Studios in Australia, with Kevin Feige producing.
