When Avengers: Age of Ultron hit theaters in May, the fate of Mark Ruffalo's Hulk became one of the sequel's biggest mysteries. The Green Goliath was last seen stealing a Quinjet, taking off for parts unknown. There were rumors that Hulk would pop up in the Marvel Phase Three adventures Captain America: Civil War and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but they were never confirmed by Marvel. Today we have a new report from JoBlo, which claims that Hulk will next be seen in Thor: Ragnarok.

The site's sources claim that Mark Ruffalo will join Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif) in Thor: Ragnarok, which will reportedly be set on a "distant planet" that is neither Asgard nor Earth. The site speculates that Marvel may be trying to work the long-rumored Planet Hulk storyline into Thor: Ragnarok, but that has yet to be confirmed. While the site won't confirm the Planet Hulk rumor, they aren't denying it either.

It also isn't known how much we'll see of Bruce Banner, as compared to his Hulk alter-ego, but it is believed that he will be prominently featured as part of the supporting cast. The story is said to center on the "Norse Apocalypse," but no specific plot details were given. We reported in August that the studio may shoot Thor: Ragnarok in Australia, following Disney's positive experiences in the country during the production of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, but it isn't known if that is confirmed, or when shooting may begin. Filming is about to get under way on Doctor Strange very soon, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set to follow in early 2016.

Speaking of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, director James Gunn has already shot down rumors of Hulk appearing in his sequel. The site claims that they may try to tease Hulk's Thor: Ragnarok role into an end credit sequence in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but that hasn't been confirmed either. Even if this rumor about Thor: Ragnarok is true, it isn't known how they will explain how he went from a crashed Quinjet to a "distant planet."

Taika Waititi is in talks to direct Thor: Ragnarok from a script by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle. It isn't known if Thor and Thor: The Dark World stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi and Ray Stevenson will return in this sequel, but we'll keep you posted as soon as more details are revealed.
