Tim Burton is in early talks with 20th Century Fox to direct and develop the adaptation Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. We first reported on this project back in May, when Fox acquired the rights to Ransom Riggs' novel.

The story centers on a 16-year-old boy named Jacob, who sets off to find a mysterious orphanage, which used to house children with special and dangerous abilities. When Jacob finds the abandoned home, he gets the feeling that these children may still be alive, somewhere in the facility.

If Tim Burton officially signs on, his first task will be finding a writer to adapt the novel. Peter Chernin will produce Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children alongside Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping.

No production schedule was given for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
