While Johnny Depp isn't officially on board yet, it looks like two of his past collaborators have signed on for an adaptation of a horror soap opera. According to IESB.net, Tim Burton has been brought on to direct and John August will be writing an adaptation of the 60s supernatural soap opera, Dark Shadows. The project has been in development at Warner Bros. and Depp's Infinitum-Nihil production company as well as Graham King's GK Films.

Dark Shadows ran from 1966 to 1971 and featured a breadth of horror favorites like vampires, zombies, werewolves and others. The site is reporting that August is switching off between writing that project and Billy Baston and the Legend of Shazam for WB.

No production schedule or cast has been released for the film, but we'll keep you posted on this story as soon as we have more information.
