The Hangover Part III director Todd Phillips is stepping outside the comedy world after his final Wolf Pack sequel. Warner Bros. has acquired the Linwood Barclay novel Trust Your Eyes for the comedic filmmaker to direct.

The thriller centers on a scizophrenic savant who witnesses a murder in Manhattan. When the man convinces his brother to investigate the crime, the duo square off with an ex-cop and his brutal henchwoman who are determined to tie up their loose ends. The story is being described as a cross between Rear Window and Rain Man.

Todd Phillips will also produce alongside Dan Lin, with Jon Silk co-producing and Scott Budnick serving as executive producer. No screenwriter has been attached to adapt the novel.

This project is the second non-comedy Todd Phillips has become attached to as of late. We reported last month that he signed on to direct a remake of The Gambler for Paramount Pictures.
