According to Variety, New Line Cinema has tapped the scripting team of Toni Kotite and Marty Scott to write college comedy Soccer Mom for Karz Entertainment and Underground Films to produce.

The story, based on Cindy McCreery's spec script, revolves around a mother of two who was a soccer star 15 years earlier and goes back to college to play on the team after her husband leaves her.

"It's a story of reinventing oneself", Kotite noted. "I can relate because I'm a mom and I like soccer."

Kotite and Scott recently rewrote Briggs' Ballet for New Line, based on the true story of a retired Marine who takes over his daughter's ballet school. Project's set up with Mandeville Films, with Kaufman and Moore overseeing for the studio.
