Director Michael Bay's Transformers 4 will be a globe-trotting production, with shooting confirmed to take place in Michigan, Chicago, and China. Production will begin in the U.S. this June, before moving to Hong Kong in September and mainland China in October.

The filmmaker is reportedly interested in the Sham Shui Po district in North West Kowloon, one of the oldest and most populated areas of Hong Kong. The sequel will be a Chinese co-production with China Movie Channel and Jiaflix, although it isn't known how much of the story will take place in the country.

We reported last week that the sequel will use a reality series to cast Chinese actors. Reality television is one of the most popular forms of entertainment in China.

No story details have been revealed yet for Transformers 4, which Michael Bay is directing from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger. Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor are the only confirmed cast members thus far.
