We know that Paramount's Transformers: The Last Knight will crossover into medieval times, with part of this story involving the iconic characters King Arthur (Liam Garrigan) and Merlin (Santiago Cabrera), but there may be another magical connection to this sequel as well. New set photos recently surfaced featuring Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Hopkins in the U.K., shoot in a particular location connected to the Harry Potter franchise. While it seems unlikely that these two fantasy sries will crossover, it's possible this location could have something to do with the King Arthur and Merlin story.

The Daily Mail has these latest, which were taken in front of Alnwick Castle in Northumbria, UK yesterday. While the production was clearly for Transformers 5, hardcore Harry Potter fans know that Alnwick Castle was used in several exterior shots to represent Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, both of which were directed by Chris Columbus. This location was also used in the critically-acclaimed 1998 film Elizabeth and the hit TV series Downton Abbey.

As for the King Arthur and Merlin connection, Liam Garrigan and Santiago Cabrera weren't spotted on the set, so we don't know what director Michael Bay may be using Alnwick Castle for in this action-packed sequel. The director himself was spotted in some of the photos, and this report reveals that the filmmaker has secured the Alnwick Castle grounds for shooting through Saturday. The site speculated that these scenes might be the aftermath of an explosion, since another report revealed that the special effects team shot two different explosion shots with drones, which may explain why Mark Wahlberg's t-shirt and jeans are slightly torn and tattered.

We reported last week that Stanely Tucci will reprise his role as Joshua Joyce from Transformers: Age of Extinction. He won't be the only star returning from that movie, with Mark Wahlberg returning as Cade Yeager, along with stars from the original trilogy, Josh Duhamel as Lennox and Tyrese Gibson as Epps. The cast also includes a number of franchise newcomers such as Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Laura Haddock and Anthony Hopkins. Production also took place in Cuba earlier in the shoot, with location work also taking place in Russia as well.

We also have a brief video showing one of the cars driving by at Alnwick Castle, which appears to be the Hot Rod car, and a photo of the Alnwick explosion that was filmed yesterday. With shooting to continue at Alnwick tomorrow, we'll keep you posted if more videos and photos surface. Until then, take a look at the latest images and videos from the set of Transformers: The Last Knight, in theaters June 23, 2017.
