Troy: Warner Brothers Home Video has announced January 4th 2005 DVD release date for Wolfgang Petersen’s sword and sandal spectacle Troy; starring an extremely buffed Brad Pitt, Lord of the Rings Sean Bean, X2’s Brian Cox, maybe Bond to be Eric Bana, teen heartthrob Orlando Bloom and a much maligned Dianne Kruger.

Both pan and scan and widescreen versions of the two-disc set will be offered, and will feature either or 4:3 pan and scan or anamorphic widescreen (in 2.40:1) transfers, along with English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks.

Both versions should retail for around $29.95. There was no mention of an extended version, a director's cut or a restoration of original score composer Gabriel Yared's now infamous unused work.
