Thirteen year-old Perth native Troye Mellet will play the role of the younger Logan in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The Sydney Times has said that the youngster earned the role of playing the young version of the character made famous by Hugh Jackman in the X-Men films thanks, in part, to YouTube videos of him singing.

After seeing the YouTube videos, Mellet was asked to submit an audition tape which earned him the role. Mellett has achieved some notice for playing the lead in the stage play of Olliver in Sydney, Australia.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine explores Wolverine's early days, before joining the X-Men. The film will cover Logan's early life, and his involvement with the mysterious Weapon X program. The film also stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Dominic Monaghan, Danny Huston, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, will.i.am, Daniel Henney, and Lynn Collins. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is due to arrive in theatres in 2009.
