"Animal Practice" is a new comedy centering on Dr. George Coleman (Justin Kirk, "Weeds," "Angels in America"), a top veterinarian with an impressive list of famous animal patients at the Crane Animal Hospital - a bustling New York City veterinary practice where it often seems as if the patients are running the place. Despite his unorthodox style, George has an undeniable gift with animals of all kinds - except the human kind.
An unorthodox NYC veterinarian meets his match in his new boss.
“Little Miss Can't Be Wrong”
Doug tries to convince George to operate on his dog, and Angela sells off Rizzo's artwork.
George tries to console a boy whose Parson Russell Terrier was brought in with kidney failure, but Dorothy would prefer the infinitely more kid-friendly Doug take the case.
Dr. Yamamoto (Bobby Lee) performs a successful emergency surgery on the Mayor's dog and becomes a media darling, much to George's (Justin Kirk) dismay. Meanwhile, Dorothy (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), hires an accomplished new doctor at the hospital, Dr. Jill Leiter (June Diane Raphael, Upright Citizens Brigade), who is beautiful, tough, and sure to keep George on his toes.

When George's (Justin Kirk) overbearing mother Virginia (guest star Annie Potts, "GCB") shows up at the hospital with her sick cat, named "cat," George must heal the cat or risk the alternative - having to keep her company to fill the void. Meanwhile, Dorothy (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) counsels Dr. Leiter (guest star June Diane Raphael, Upright Citizens Brigade) who must face the board of directors before she can settle in at the hospital.

George (Justin Kirk) begins to feel threatened with Jill's (guest star June Diane Raphael) strong new presence at the hospital. Annoyed by this increasing competition, George attempts to sabotage one of Jill's operations. Meanwhile, Dorothy (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) takes on judging Crane Animal Hospital's Halloween pet costume contest and struggles with the temptation to take a bribe.
George treats an ailing cockatoo with a chocolate problem.
Angela helps a bulldog slim down and Dorothy tries to get closer to her staff.
Over Thanksgiving dinner, sparks fly between George's mom and dad.
