Aware that Hiro has been dreaming about him, Arthur begins wiping his memory. Arthur gets distracted by Usutu's painting of the end of the world, giving Ando the opportunity to tackle Hiro and urge him to teleport them out of there. Ando tries to blink Hiro's eyes for him, but all Hiro can think about is waffles. As Arthur looms, Hiro manages to teleport away in the nick of time...
...to a bowling alley which sells the best waffles ever. Catching his reflection, Hiro becomes puzzled - why are he and Ando so old? When Ando presses the point, Hiro explains that he's only ten years old.
Arthur decides it's time to give Sylar a little fatherly counsel. His hunger isn't about killing, but power. Sylar can absorb all the abilities he wants without killing by accessing his empathy. He's had the power all along, and proved it by saving Peter. Arthur shuts Sylar into a dark room where Elle lies, chained to the floor. Incensed to recognize her father's murderer, Elle plugs Sylar full of volts.
Peter wants Claire to go home and preserve her innocence, but she insists on staying, determined to protect him. When Knox and Flint knock on the door, Claire tells Peter to run down the fire escape; she has a plan. Claire dives out the window and meets Peter in the same alley where she is destined to kill him. Together, Peter and Claire lift a manhole cover and escape into the sewer.
Arthur visits the lab, where Mohinder is depressed, having completely screwed up his human guinea pig. Arthur notices that Mohinder is monitoring solar flares, a shared passion. Mohinder explains that most powers seemed to take place during the last total annular eclipse. He's missing a catalyst, which is preventing the formula from working. Since the catalyst can't be created and stored synthetically, it must be living in a human host. Arthur figures Kaito hid the catalyst.
Sylar admits that Elle deserves vengeance, telling her to give him all she's got. Meanwhile, Daphne and Matt visit Primatech, now deserted, save for a fleeting glimpse of Usutu. Matt finds Angela still catatonic, and determines to help her. Claiming that she's going to get a nurse, Daphne speeds to Pinehearst to tell Arthur what's happening. Threatening to send Daphne back to her old life, Arthur tells her to stay with Matt; if he tries to help Angela, Arthur will be waiting.
In the sewer, Peter wants to separate from Claire, explaining that she's becoming a killer. Claire claims it's all Peter's fault; he should never have come to Odessa to save her, only to become her friend and her hero. When they hear something, Claire tells Peter to run, while she stands and fights. But Knox has a surprise - he and Flint aren't after Peter, they've come for Claire.
Ando desperately tries to convince Hiro that he's a master of the space-time continuum. Hiro can't believe it, so Ando urges him to close his eyes and concentrate. Delighted when he freezes time, Hiro skips through the bowling alley, playing pranks. Meanwhile, Matt takes Angela's hand, preparing to go inside her head. Nervous, he tells Daphne to keep an eye on him while he's gone.
Nathan and Tracy visit Arthur at Pinehearst. Arthur admits he probably should have told Nathan about his destiny to rule the nation sooner. Nathan balks; he's not falling for the same crap Linderman spouted again. Arthur claims that Nathan has always been his favorite son, and he wants to create the Petrelli family legacy together, by saving the world.
Peter turns on the gas and confronts Knox and Flint, demanding they let Claire go or die. When Flint flames up, the gas explodes through the sewer, allowing Peter and Claire to escape.
Sylar tells Elle that it's time for her to forgive herself. Once she does, she's amazed to find the pain that has plagued her is gone. With new eyes for Sylar, Elle teaches him a few tricks to better handle his newly absorbed ability. As the couple grows more intimate, Arthur watches from his office.
Nathan feels demoralized after leaving Arthur's office. Now he doesn't know what to believe and nothing makes sense. Tracy reminds Nathan that he's a U.S. Senator and he better snap out of it. She wants Nathan call the Justice Department and expose Arthur, but he intends to revisit Angela. Tracy should return to Washington and cover for him until he can figure out his next move.
As soon as Nathan's gone, Tracy returns to Arthur's office. He thinks she wants him to take away her powers, but she has a proposal. In order for Arthur's plan to succeed, he needs a public face. Only problem? The world thinks he's dead. Nathan's on the fence, and Tracy's just the girl to push him over, ensuring that he lands on the "right" side. All she asks in return is that Arthur watches her back when it all goes down.
Matt leaves his present reality to enter Angela's head to witness her horrifying visions of the future. Handcuffed to a chair, Angela tells him he shouldn't have come; Arthur's too dangerous, and he's locked all the doors. Daphne shows up in Matt's vision to stab him. In reality, Daphne notices Matt bleeding and begs him to wake up. Holding Matt's hand, Daphne enters his head.
As the two Daphnes try to sway Matt, Arthur appears. He advises Matt to never trust a woman; she'll betray you every time. Daphne apologizes. She was afraid, and she didn't yet know... that she loved Matt. Angela reminds Arthur that they were like that once, and demands he let her go. Oddly, Arthur releases Angela from her handcuffs. When Daphne finally shakes Matt from his dream, Matt has stopped bleeding, and Angela wakes up.
Matt bumps into Peter and Claire in the hallway, and is instantly on guard. Peter explains that it was his future self that sent Matt to Africa; they're on the same team now. Back at Pinehearst, Mohinder's disfigured test subject begs him to be put out of his misery. Apologizing, Mohinder grants the man's final wish.
Nathan joins Peter, Claire, Matt and Daphne at Angela's bedside. Angela knows that Arthur has both halves of the formula, but it won't work without the catalyst, which is hidden inside a human host; only Kaito knew the host's identity. Claire remembers what Sylar told her when he opened her head, that she was "special." Now she realizes that she must be the catalyst.
With white eyes, Arthur sketches in his office as his team assembles around him - Tracy, Flint, Knox, Sylar and Elle. His eyes flip back to normal when the drawing of the impending eclipse is finished. It's coming...
