The only thing crazier than making a hit TV show, is remaking one. Matt LeBlanc stars as Matt LeBlanc in the new Showtime Original Comedy Series EPISODES. Husband and wife writing team Sean and Beverly can't wait to bring their successful British series to America.
Sean and Beverly Lincoln are a happily married English couple, who are also the creators of a hit British TV show. Their life seems complete. That is until a hugely powerful and charismatic US network president persuades them to move to LA to recreate their show for American television. Things begin to unravel as soon as Sean and Beverly arrive in LA. It soon becomes clear that the network president has never even seen their show. To make matters worse, he insists that they replace their brilliant lead actor, an erudite Royal Shakespeare veteran, with... Matt Leblanc!
Sean and Beverly are still reeling from the network's decision to cast Matt Leblanc as the star of their show. But when they meet him at a swanky LA dinner party at Merc's house, Matt couldn't be more charming or flattering about their show. Unfortunately, over time the natural animosity between Matt and Beverly rises to the surface, and Beverly learns just how much you don't want the former Friend as an enemy.
Beverly can't stand Matt and the feeling is mutual. As it's all she can do not to throttle the star of her show, Beverly tells her husband "he's yours". Sean and Matt end up spending the day together, including an extended adventure in Las Vegas. Soon the two guys have bonded, leaving Beverly feeling excluded by her husband's new bro-mance. Later, in a confrontation with Matt, Beverly learns just how "big" a star Matt Leblanc actually is.
Forced to rescue a drunken Matt from a seedy dive bar so that he won't drive drunk, Sean and Beverly take him to his ex-wife's house, where he visits his children, confronts the mess he's made of his life, and finds Beverly's attitude toward him softening.
Matt invites both Sean and Morning, an actress with whom Sean has long been infatuated, to a charity event where Sean discovers the attraction is mutual; Beverly and Carol share a joint and commiserate about the men in their lives.
Convinced that her husband's relationship with Morning is less than platonic, Beverly packs her bags and leaves the house, but gets into a car crash that has unexpected consequences for her marriage.
In the Season 1 finale, deeply regretting an impulsive tryst, Beverly returns home to Sean as they wrap production of their series and prepare to return to London, but a final farewell between Sean and Matt takes a series of complicated and unexpected turns.
