The show inspired by comedian Chris Rock's childhood experiences is back for a third season. Rock narrates the hilarious, touching story of a teenager growing up as the eldest of three children in Brooklyn, New York, during the early 1980s. Uprooted to a new neighborhood and bused into a predominantly white middle school two-hours away by his strict, hard-working parents, Chris struggles to find his place while keeping his siblings in line at home and surmounting the challenges of junior high. This responsible, resilient adolescent brings a distinct, funny spin to his everyday trials and traumas, in the critically acclaimed comedy Everybody Hates Chris.
After Chris (Tyler James Williams) tests poorly on a standard exam, his teacher, Ms. Morello (Jacqueline Mazarella), refers him to the school's guidance counselor, Mr. Abbott (Chris Rock). Although Chris tries to explain that the whole situation is a big mistake and he didn't understand the importance of the test, Mr. Abbott puts him through a series of mental evaluations and eventually determines that Chris must attend a remedial class.
Caruso (Travis Flory) relinquishes his role as school bully after getting bullied himself. However, without Caruso to establish the school's power hierarchy and with everyone vying to fill his shoes, Chris (Tyler James Williams) and Greg (Vincent Martella) realize they'd better come up with a fast solution. Meanwhile, when a reluctant Julius (Terry Crews) is forced to use his vacation days, he schemes to find extra work without Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) finding out his secret.
Things take a literal turn for the worse when a license-less Chris (Tyler James Williams) volunteers to move his dad's (Terry Crews) car, but finds himself driving the car all the way to school as a result of trying to impress Tasha (Paige Hurd). Meanwhile, Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) spends an interesting day at traffic court with Drew (Tequan Richmond) and Tonya (Imani Hakim).
As a result of their apartment being broken into, Julius (Terry Crews) and Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) decide it's a good idea to get a dog, something Chris (Tyler James Williams) has always wanted. Unfortunately, Julius is all about the security and less about the fun, so Chris is put in charge of training the dog to be an attack dog. Meanwhile, without a television to occupy their time, Drew (Tequan Richmond) and Tonya (Imani Hakim) must find new ways to amuse themselves, including making prank phone calls.
When Chris' (Tyler James Williams) entire family comes down with the flu, Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) and Julius (Terry Crews) make arrangements for Mr. Omar (guest star Ernest Thomas) to look after Chris until the family recovers. Unfortunately, Mr. Omar's idea of looking after Chris is leaving him alone while he attends to a grieving widow. Not one to waste a great opportunity, Greg (Vincent Martella) suggests that Chris take advantage of the independence by inviting Tasha (guest star Paige Hurd) over for some alone time, but things get a little out of hand when word spreads that Chris has an apartment all to himself.
With no extracurricular activities to his name, Chris (Tyler James Williams) decides to join the writing staff of the school newspaper. However, when his writing skills fail to impress, Chris concocts a fictitious story about a serial killer loose on the streets of Bed-Stuy, which eventually finds its way to the local Brooklyn paper and causes quite a panic within the community.
With Greg's (Vincent Martella) father out of town, Chris (Tyler James Williams) invites Greg to stay at his house for the week. However, Chris' attitude changes after Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) and the rest of his family start waiting on Greg hand and foot and Chris becomes an afterthought.
Meanwhile, Julius (Terry Crews), who is making extra cash by driving taxis in his spare time, picks up a fugitive who wants Julius to drive him all the way to Las Vegas.
When Doc refuses to give Chris a raise, Chris goes out and gets a new job at the local Chinese restaurant.
When a new student, Albert (guest star Kwame Boateng), enrolls at Corleone, Chris realizes that he has a lot more in common with Albert than just being the only two African American kids in school. Unfortunately, Albert makes more enemies than friends, including Greg (Vincent Martella) who warns Chris to stay far away from Albert.
Meanwhile, Julius (Terry Crews) and Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) get an unexpected IRS refund check in the mail, but Julius is too afraid to spend any of the money in case the IRS decides to take the money back from them.
With Christmas break right around the corner, Chris' (Tyler James Williams) holiday cheer turns to holiday blues when his teacher, Ms. Morello (Jacqueline Mazarella), assigns homework requiring each student to do a good deed over the break. Chris decides that his good deed will be to help Kill Moves (Jeris Lee Poindexter) visit his mother (guest star Rashad) for the holidays, but the assignment becomes more challenging when he discovers that Kill Moves doesn't know how to find her.
Chris (Tyler James Williams) and his family decide to take a trip down South to attend the funeral of Julius' distant relative. Unfortunately, while waiting for the bus at Port Authority, Chris and Julius (Terry Crews) get sucked into a gambling scheme and are too afraid to tell Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) that they lost all their money.
Jimmy Walker makes a cameo in the episode, playing Rochelle's father, Gene. Wayne Brady guest stars as Julius' brother, Louis.
When Chris (Tyler James Williams) discovers that his long-standing crush, Tasha (guest star Paige Hurd), likes "bad boys," he decides it's time to lose his "nice guy" image and win over the girl of his dreams.
Meanwhile, the entire family is thrilled when Julius (Terry Crews) is named employee of the month and wins a free dinner for the family at a fancy restaurant, but it turns out that the gift has a few unexpected restrictions.
After finding out that Tasha (guest star Paige Hurd) is going to "spin the bottle" parties, Chris (Tyler James Williams) is determined to get an invitation to the next party so he can finally experience his first kiss.
When Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) runs into an old boyfriend while the family is out to dinner, Julius (Terry Crews) becomes extremely jealous and asks Tonya to spy on her mother and find out whether she still has feelings for her ex.
Mr. Omar (guest star Ernest Thomas) borrows five dollars from Drew (Tequan Richmond), not realizing that Drew is deadly serious about getting his money back. Vincent Martella also stars.
When Tasha (guest star Paige Hurd) breaks up with her boyfriend, Chris (Tyler James Williams) is more than happy to step in and serve as her escort for the Easter Pageant, but first he has to figure out how to be in two places at the same time without his mother (Tichina Arnold) finding out.
Rochelle is confident that she'll win the Easter Pageant Hat-Off competition for the fourth year in a row, but she definitely has to up her game after finding out that the church's newest member intends to take away her title.
Julius (Terry Crews) pretends that he has to work on Easter so that he can stay home and watch the football game.
In an attempt to keep his younger brother, Drew (Tequan Richmond), out of further trouble, Chris (Tyler James Williams) reluctantly agrees to skip school and accompany Drew on a mission to find his idol, hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
Chris (Tyler James Williams) is so desperate to raise the funds to go to a Run DMC concert that he jumps at the chance to participate in Mr. Omar's (Ernest Thomas) Black Funeral Directors' (BFD) scholarship fund.
Meanwhile, when Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) injures her arm, she quickly realizes that the longer she's out of commission, the longer she can avoid taking care of Julius (Terry Crews) and the family.
Chris (Tyler James Williams) attempts to help Malvo (guest star Ricky Harris), a career criminal who was recently released from jail, turn his life around by going back to high school.
Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) is alarmed by the parenting skills of one of Tonya's (Imani Hakim) friend's parents and decides to share her wealth of knowledge. A die-hard Dodgers fan, Julius (Terry Crews) feels betrayed when Drew (Tequan Richmond) decides he's a fan of the Mets.
Chris (Tyler James Williams) must come up with a school project for Earth Day, so he decides to collect cans, believing it will be an easy task and something Julius (Terry Crews) can help him accomplish.
When Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) is called to school to discuss Tonya's (Imani Hakim) inappropriate behavior, it quickly becomes obvious to Rochelle that it's a case of the apple not falling far from the tree.
On a mission to become one of the "cool" kids, Chris (Tyler James Williams) is caught with cigarettes and suspended from school. Of course, Tonya (Imani Hakim) intercepts the call from Chris' school letting his parents know he has been suspended and decides to blackmail him.
Meanwhile, in an effort to get even with Julius (Terry Crews) for keeping a coat given to him by his ex-girlfriend, Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) decides to parade around the neighborhood in inappropriate clothing.
Chris (Tyler Williams) and Greg (Vincent Martella) are without dates to the ninth-grade dance, until Greg gets asked, leaving Chris as the odd man out. Ms. Morello (Jacqueline Mazarella) suggests to Chris that he ask the only girl who hasn't been asked yet, Carrie White, and she accepts.
Unfortunately, when word gets around that Carrie is going to the dance with the "black kid" in school, a huge controversy is created, putting Carrie and Chris in an awkward situation.
Meanwhile, Tonya (Imani Hakim) drives Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) and Julius (Terry Crews) crazy about taking ballet classes.
When Chris attempts to buy Rochelle perfume as a Mother's Day gift, he discovers he cannot afford it and buys it from Risky. However, Rochelle breaks out in hives and takes Chris to the store she believes he bought it from. Meanwhile, Drew and Julius do a spot of spring cleaning and make an expensive find.
Chris' (Tyler James Williams) excitement about graduating from junior high school is ruined when Greg (Vincent Martella) announces that he'll be going to a different high school in the fall. Not wanting to be separated from his best friend, Tyler sets out to qualify for the necessary grant money needed to attend Greg's expensive school.
When Tonya's (Imani Hakim) ballet partner is injured, Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) volunteers Drew (Tequan Richmond) to be his sister's new partner in the Swan Lake recital.
