J.J. Abrams, the creator of Lost and Alias, teams up with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Mission: Impossible 3, Transformers) to create this highly anticipated drama series. The first electrifying season of Fringe follows an unlikely trio who uncover a deadly mystery that may be part of a larger and more disturbing pattern that lives somewhere between science fiction and reality.
When all the passengers on a plane die, FBI agent Olivia Dunham investigates the events and while on the investigation her partner, John Scott, almost dies. A desperate Olivia looks for help and finds Dr. Walter Bishop, but he cannot help her because he has been institutionalized. The only way to even question him is with the help of his son Peter.
Olivia continues her investigations leading her to Nina Sharp, a manipulative executive. Olivia, Peter and Dr. Bishop will begin to discover what really happened on Flight 627 and begin to uncover a larger truth.
“The Same Old Story”
Olivia, Peter and Walter Bishop investigate the strange death of a woman who had an even stranger child. The woman was pregnant for only hours, yet the baby she birthed was fully developed - and also aged 80 years in the span of a few minutes. Olivia asks Nina Sharp of Massive Dynamic for help.
“The Ghost Network”
Roy McComb, a man who claims to receive visions from God, sees passengers on a bus caught in a gas attack that solidifies the air around them, asphyxiating them. Now the team must use Roy's visions to find the man responsible.
The team investigates a strange cylinder, found in a deadly explosion at a construction site in New York City. The cylinder was in the middle of the explosion and was completely unharmed. Olivia uncovers a correlation between different disturbing events.
The team investigate the case of a man who can generate electrical phenomena... and is at the center of a series of strange deaths involving electronic devices.
The team investigates a woman that re-appears after weeks of being missing, with a rare disease and she inexplicably causes pain and death to the people she meets. In the investigation dangerous level of radiation are detected.
Walter obsesses about cotton candy, Peter strikes a deal with Nina Sharp and a truth about Olivia is discovered.
“In Which We Meet Mr. Jones”
As the team tackles a case involving a strange, almost-otherworldly parasite that has attached itself to the internal organs of a dying FBI agent (guest star Chance Kelly). Racing against time, Agent Dunham (Anna Torv) flies to Germany to meet with an imprisoned man (guest star Jared Harris) who reveals disconcerting details of a much larger threat. Meanwhile, Peter (Joshua Jackson) and Walter (John Noble) attempt to help Olivia by tapping into a dead man’s brainwaves.
After a young music prodigy (guest star Charlie Tahan) is taken by a serial kidnapper (guest star Gillian Jacobs), it’s discovered that a sequence of flashing lights appeared at the abduction, which Walter links back to his bunkmate (guest star Randall Duk Kim) at St. Claire’s Hospital. Much to Peter’s dismay, Olivia encourages Walter to return to the mental institution, and Walter’s determination to help ends up having chilling ramifications.
A Massive Dynamic employee leaps to his death after hallucinating a butterfly attack. Agent Scott proves useful in investigating the case, but a frustrated Olivia wants to remove him from her consciousness once and for all. Meanwhile, Peter deals with some enemies from his past.
Philadelphia Mutual Savings Bank. A team of five bank robbers storms the bank at night, killing the guard and disabling the security system. In command is MITCHEL LOEB ("In Which We Meet Mr. Jones"). The robbers proceed to the main vault and stretch a black tarp over the vault wall. Loeb gives the command for two others to fire a harpoon -- and it flies right through! Loeb and two others use the harpoon's cable pull themselves through the wall. They have a minute and forty seconds. Once inside, they quickly break open one safe deposit box, pull out a heavy box, and push it through the wall. As the men pull themselves back out, the last man struggles to loosen the harpoon. As he unhooks the harpoon and races to get back through the wall, it solidifies around him -- crushing him inside. With nothing left to do, Loeb pulls out a gun and shoots him in the head, leaving him half-stuck the wall.
After shifty FBI Agent Mitchel Loeb orchestrated David Robert Jones? otherworldly escape, indications of a larger threat begin to emerge.
Seventeen-year-old GREGORY WILES is working at his computer and chatting with a pal on the phone, when a mysterious window pops up prompting him to click a button. Strange images begin to flash before his eyes, and the boy is drawn in, seemingly mesmerized. Then something begins to protrude from the middle of the screen and impossibly takes the form of a hand. The unearthly appendage slowly reaches forward and without warning grasps the boy's face...
A commercial airliner: As MARSHALL BOWMAN sits writing in his notebook, his nose begins to bleed. He goes to the bathroom where he checks his teeth, tongue, and eyes. He swabs his mouth, dabs the swab into a vial filled with liquid, then panics as the liquid turns red. In the cabin, he grabs a flight attendant and tells her he's in trouble, that he needs to be sedated. As the flight crew tries to calm him, his nose begins to bleed again. He makes one final plea: keep him in the bathroom no matter what. Inside the bathroom, Bowman shudders in pain. His teeth begin falling out. He screams in agony as quills pierce the back of his shirt and he doubles over in pain. Outside, the flight crew are considering their options when the bathroom door splinters and a hideous, inhuman beast bursts into the cabin.
Wissenschaft Prison, Germany. DAVID ROBERT JONES waits patiently in his cell, drawing the face of a woman on a sheet of paper. His lawyer SIMON COLE enters with his appeal and the items Jones requested. While the lawyer rifles through his briefcase, Jones sneaks up behind him and breaks his neck. He removes Cole's suit and puts it on, swallows some pills, applies eye drops, and puts sunscreen on his face. He stands patiently in the corner as a bright light illuminates him from above. The light intensifies and envelops him...
Olivia makes a bond with a mysterious child that was living alone underground. Meanwhile, a serial killer reemerges.
A man-made creature attacks Charlie and Walter's history catches up with him.
A suicide incident occurs at Grand Central Station, which Olivia dreams about. Meanwhile, shocking details emerge about the ZFT manuscript.
Someone is killing people and draining their spinal cord fluid. Olivia, Peter, and Walter go to great lengths to stop the deaths, which are happening more and more frequently.
“The Road Not Taken”
Olivia has some bad dreams that end up coming true, and then begins seeing visions while awake that aren't really there. She uses these visions to help solve the case of a woman who spontaneously combusted.
“There's More Than One of Everything”
Someone close to Fringe Division is attacked, and bioterrorist David Robert Jones returns. Meanwhile, Walter disappears inexplicably.
