‘Justice League’ and ‘Mortal Kombat’ Digital Series Ordered at WB

Warner Bros. announced today that all of its short-form media will now be produced through a new company entitled Blue Ribbon Content, with the company issuing series orders for a new Mortal Kombat web series, along with the previously-announced Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles and the Veronica Mars spin-off Play It Again, Dick. All of the studio's web series' will be produced under the Blue Ribbon Content banner, which is being lead by Sam Register.

Watch ‘Mortal Kombat: Legacy’ Season 2 Trailer

The first trailer for Season 2 of Mortal Kombat: Legacy was unveiled last night at the 3rd Annual Streamy Awards. We reported last month that Ian Anthony Dale and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa will reprise their Season 1 roles as Scorpion and Shang Tsung, with new cast members that include Harry Shum Jr. as Kuai Liang, Casper Van Dien as Johnny Cage, Brian Tee as Liu Kang, and Mark Dacascos as Kung Lao. The season will debut this spring on Machinima.com, but a premiere date has not been announced at this time.

A second season of the hit live-action web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy is currently in production in Los Angeles and will debut worldwide in Q2 2013 exclusively on Machinima, the number one entertainment network on YouTube. Based on the best-selling Mortal Kombat video game franchise, Kevin Tancharoen (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) returns to direct and co-write Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2 alongside writers Josh Baizer and {no_person (Dead Loss).

The first season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy was one of the most-viewed web series of 2011 with more than 60 million views to date on Machinima. The writer-director did not reveal when the episodes will debut, although he did say that this new season will take place at the Mortal Kombat tournament, where the famed characters will fight for their lives.
