CBS has been sticking true to their successful spin-off formula for several years now. As JAG was winding down its successful run, they spun that series off into NCIS, a long-running staple on the network which has even birthed its own spin-off in last year's highly-successful NCIS: Los Angeles. CBS announced today that most of its new and returning series will premiere during the week of Sept. 20, the official start of the 2010-2011 season. The exceptions are Survivor: Nicaragua, which launches a week earlier, and The Good Wife and CSI: Miami, which both debut a week later.

A new CBS spin-off pilot has cast three of its leads. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Louise Lombard, Peter Cambor and Daniela Ruah have signed up for lead roles in the NCIS spin-off series.
Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J are in negotiations for the other two leads in the series. Lombard will portray Clara, the female lead of the series, who was a former military police officer and now a sharp investigator. Cambor will play Nate, a sharp-witted psychologist who has vast knowledge of American culture. Ruah will play Kensi, a young investigator who also studied criminology and forensics in college.Read More
