Faced with a tough new opponent, Leslie and Ben disagree on the content of her first campaign ad.

Leslie holds a bowling event to gather support for her campaign, while the team has a contest to see who can raise the most money by cold calling.
It's Valentine's Day and Leslie (Amy Poehler) decides she needs to find Ann (Rashida Jones) a new man. Ben (Adam Scott) must enlist Ron's (Nick Offerman) help when he is stumped by Leslie's elaborate Valentine's Day scavenger hunt, and Chris (Rob Lowe) is depressed about the status of his love life. While trying to get an endorsement from the Chief of Police, Leslie and Ben awkwardly run into Leslie's old flame, Dave. Meanwhile, Andy and the rest of the office work on a theme song for Leslie's campaign.
Leslie realizes that the department has forgotten Jerry's birthday and decides to throw a party for him at a special location. Meanwhile, Tom is flabbergasted when he finds out Ann doesn't share his taste in music.
Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ben (Adam Scott) are caught off guard when her opponent Bobby Newport hires a powerful campaign manager (guest star Kathryn Hahn) from Washington. Chris (Rob Lowe) forces Ron (Nick Offerman) to start interviewing replacements for Leslie when work starts falling through the cracks, and an unlikely officemate solves a challenging problem. Leslie lands a big interview on an Indianapolis talk show. Meanwhile, Andy preps for his final exam in his women's studies course, with help from Ron and April.
When Leslie (Amy Poehler) finds out that Parks Department budget is about to be cut, she convinces Councilman Pillner (guest star Bradley Whitford) to make the cuts elsewhere, which causes unexpected problems for her campaign. Leslie (Amy Poehler) goes on a bus tour for the final day of her campaign, and is caught off guard when an important person in Pawnee passes away. Meanwhile, Andy (Chris Pratt) susses out a security threat, and Chris (Rob Lowe) finds an unlikely cure for his depression.

It's election day in Pawnee, and Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Bobby Newport (Paul Rudd) are separated by a razor-thin margin. While everyone waits with Leslie for the race to be called, they ponder their futures, and their new opportunities.
