Filled with mystery, scandal and intrigue, season two of the hit series - nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite TV Obsession - begins moments after the explosive season one finale. Surprises and challenges will be in store for each this season, and "A" may succeed in her quest. Whoever said that change is good has never visited Rosewood, PA... or come across four pretty little liars.
Spencer and Toby continue their star-crossed romance, as do Ezra and Aria, as they prep for Ezra’s big move to Hollis College.
Even after their therapist instructs them to stop socializing together, our girls continue to talk to each other because there’s just so much to discuss!
Spencer is concerned when Toby reveals that he got a job as a carpenter at Jason’s house. She does not trust Jason and suspects that he may be hiding Ian in his house. Wanting Toby as far from Jason as possible, Spencer sells Melissa’s ring (which she found after Melissa lost it) to buy him the truck he was saving money for.
The girls find that a helping hand is needed to get out of some tricky situations. Plus, Aria has a chance encounter with someone who brings back surprising memories.
As the shocking news about Ian (RYAN MERRIMAN) makes the rounds, Aria, Emily, Hanna, Spencer and their families all try to cope with the outcome and some much needed closure.
The upcoming fashion show is an event that the girls look forward to, so they can move past all the recent dramatic events.
Emily moves into the Marin household while her mother moves to Texas to be with her father. “A” approves – and sends the girls a note to let them know just that. Later, Hanna and Emily catch Hanna’s mom and dad kissing!
Emily amps up her swimming to try to attract recruiters to make up for her lie about a scholarship.
Jason has creeped into Aria’s dreams and she’s unsure of how to stop thinking about him. Meanwhile, Spencer and Emily break into Jason's shed and find developed pictures of Aria sleeping.
It’s college fair day in Rosewood and attendance is optional.
Emily has been targeted by "A" as the weakest link. "A" texts Emily a pic of Ezra and a dark haired girl kissing and tells her to give it to Ella. The girls decide it’s time to confess about "A" to Dr. Sullivan. They do and they find a confidante on their side. But Dr. Sullivan gets a harassing phone call from "A" of a recording from one of her sessions with the girls. After lots of research in her files, Sullivan tells Emily to meet her at the office because she knows who "A" is. But when the Liars get there... Dr. Sullivan is gone.
“A” sends Spencer, Aria, and Hanna all dolls that give them tasks to complete. And if they don’t complete them, “A” will kill Dr. Sullivan! Aria has to get rid of Jackie, Spencer has to break up with Toby in order to keep him safe, and Hanna must stop her dad from marrying Isabel. Emily doesn’t get a doll until the end of the episode -- when “A” leads her to a barn. Emily is locked in a garage with a running car until someone pulls her outside. Ali reveals herself to Emily and she can’t decide if she is an apparition or was actually alive. The Liars eventually find Emily and the girls think that Dr. Sullivan is buried under the ground. They use a shovel “A” gives them to dig her up. But “A” tips off the cops to their location and they find them with Ali’s murder weapon!
The streets of Rosewood are festive, little kids are running around the streets hoping for a good year of trick or treats, and five best friends are looking forward to the biggest party of the season. It is the Halloween before Alison went missing and the only concern for Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer is to score an invite to Noel Khan's (recurring guest star BRANT DAUGHERTY - Super Sportlets, Private) Halloween party.
We return to Rosewood and the Little Liars are at each other’s throats! Emily and Spencer even get in a fight while completing their mandated community service.
Since they now have “A’s” cell phone, the Little Liars decide they need to use Caleb to break into it. Hanna doesn’t want to involve Caleb, but in the end, he’s the closest thing to helping them uncover “A’s” identity, so he’s brought in.
With Lucas (recurring guest star BRENDAN ROBINSON) missing and questions surrounding what happened out on the lake, Hanna can barely catch her breath. Caleb (recurring guest star TYLER BLACKBURN) is determined to find his friend, but Hanna's reluctance to help only causes more problems. Can Hanna really tell Caleb what happened in the boat without tipping him off to her larger "A" problem?
Love is a powerful motivator for Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer, especially if it means keeping their loved ones safe.
After putting her foot down about Caleb (recurring guest star TYLER BLACKBURN) with her friends, Hanna begins to feel that she is getting the cold shoulder from them. Aria, Emily and Spencer seem to be up to something, but she can't quite seem to figure out what it is. But what Hanna may take as the cold shoulder, could really be just a case of guilty consciences from her friends.
As Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer participate in Rosewood High’s “Truth-Up Day,” the girls discover some shocking truths of their own.
Hanna's worst nightmare comes to fruition when Caleb becomes a target of "A" and his computer is in possession of the cops.
The Liars may have a fifth member, as it's revealed that "A" is torturing someone outside of Ali's BFFs. Meanwhile, Wren becomes a much-needed support for Spencer.
As Rosewood's annual Father-Daughter Dance arrives tensions are high with the Liars and each of their fathers. Meanwhile, Ashley is snooping around attempting to find out what's wrong with Hanna.
The Liars don't know what they're in for when they meet Duncan, a boy from Ali's past. Meanwhile Toby strolls back into town, and Jason leaves the girls with a treasure: a box of Ali's old belongings.
The hunt for answers about what Ali knew leads Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer to a rundown doll hospital that holds more than just secrets.
In the season two finale of Pretty Little Liars, 'A' will be revealed.
