Private Practice - Season 2
The California sunshine and ocean breeze are just what Dr. Addison Montgomery needs to get a fresh new start, but every new beginning comes with its own risks. As Addison and her partners at Oceanside Wellness Center handle medical cases - some that are morally and ethically challenging, they also have to figure out their own complicated personal lives.
“A Family Thing”
The Doctors of Oceanside Medical Group enter their offices to find a spanking new promotional video for the practice playing. They are collectively concerned about the expense of the high-end video and inquire about the status of their impending bonuses.
“Equal and Opposite”
Naomi remains bitter about Sam and Addison's hostile takeover of Oceanside Wellness Group and promptly hangs up on them when they call her cell. At the office, she informs them their communication will be limited to professional matters only. She is not taking this coup lightly.
“Nothing to Talk About”
Naomi and Sam resume their relationship with renewed sexual fervor, but Sam tends to disrupt the romance to brainstorm business ideas for the practice, and rambles on as though his overthrow of Naomi never happened.
A weekend conference has Addison, Pete, Cooper and Violet conspiring to bring Naomi and Sam together in order to fix the practice.
“Let It Go”
In the two weeks since being elected leader of the practice, Addison has established the figure needed to save the practice's financial health and has maintained a spicy bedroom romance with Kevin.
“Serving Two Masters”
Addison treats two pregnant women who unknowingly share the same husband, a visit from an Alzheimer's patient and her loving husband forces Sam and Naomi to look at their own relationship, Violet confronts Charlotte about her relationship with Cooper, and Dell reveals a very special woman in his life to his surprised co-workers.
Addison receives a surprise visit from her brother and fellow surgeon, Archer, and his presence not only causes trouble for her, but for Naomi and Sam as well. Meanwhile Meg returns to try to make it work with Pete, and a patient accused of a malicious crime stirs up anger and emotions, for both Violet and Dell.
“Crime and Punishment”
Addison and Charlotte work together to save the lives of a pregnant woman in a coma and her unborn child, as Pete's girlfriend, Meg, clashes with members of the Oceanside staff when she begins seeing patients there, and Violet seeks Kevin's advice when a patient is suspected of murdering his wife.
“Know When to Fold”
Charlotte's rival practice, Pacific Wellcare, opens its doors and the competition with Oceanside Wellness begins, as Sam and Pete steal one of their clients, a favorite patient of Addison's goes to a Pacific Wellcare doctor for a second opinion, and Dell proposes the creation of an in-house adoption program.
Pete's girlfriend, Meg, returns to Los Angeles and notices that Pete and Violet are considerably closer; Kevin questions the direction he and Addison are headed in as a couple; Cooper treats a young diabetic boy with a mysterious past; and Charlotte and her team of Pacific Wellcare doctors continue to siphon business away from Oceanside Wellness.
One of Cooper's patients contracts the measles and forces the quarantine of all those at Oceanside Wellness, while Naomi pressures Addison into working with her cocky rival, Wyatt, on a fertility case; meanwhile, Violet and Pete wonder if their friends-with-benefits relationship should move to the next level, as Dell fights for sole custody of his daughter.
Addison is attracted to Wyatt, the rival practice's brash doctor.
“Nothing to Fear”
Violet finds out she's pregnant but isn't sure who the father is, Addison struggles with her own guilty conscience after her kiss with Wyatt, as Sam and Pete clash when an old friend and colleague asks them to help him die. Meanwhile Charlotte proposes marriage to Cooper.
Addison's brother, Archer, moves to LA to begin work at Pacific Wellcare, causing problems for both her and Naomi, and Cooper encourages Violet to talk to Pete and Sheldon about her pregnancy, but she's reluctant when she learns that neither of them wants children.
Addison uses every possible resource to find a cure for Archer.
As Archer recoups from surgery, Derek has Addison work with his pregnant neuro patient; after Sam suffers a sudden asthma attack, Bailey and Naomi work together to find the root cause of Sam's sudden attack; and at Oceanside Wellness, Cooper, Violet and Pete work together to treat a mother suffering from postpartum depression.
“Wait and See”
As Naomi and Archer grow closer as a couple, Addison suspects that her brother may have returned to his old, bachelor ways. Meanwhile, Dell, Addison and Naomi heatedly debate the pros and cons of gender reassignment surgery when their patients' newborn child is born with both male and female sex organs, and Violet and Sheldon settle some of their own issues when they co-lead a couples' therapy group.
Addison is attracted to a colleague at St. Ambrose Hospital who turns out to be more than she bargained for; Pete and Sheldon team up to persuade Violet to take a paternity test, but she firmly resists their efforts; and Naomi helps Sam plan romantic activities with Sonya after he accidentally calls her "Naomi" in bed.
“What Women Want”
After Addison discovers that a mentally unbalanced pregnant patient has lost her baby, Violet must convince her that the baby has died and that surgery is necessary, while Cooper must tell a longtime patient he must remove part of his jaw due to a fast-growing cancer. Meanwhile, Dell copes with the absence of his daughter after his ex moves for a new job, and Sam and Addison find themselves suppressing their feelings for two very unattainable people.
“Do the Right Thing”
Cooper struggles with a patient's mother, who is allowing her 12-year-old daughter to be sexually active. Meanwhile Pete begins dating his patient's fun and outgoing mom, causing a bit of jealousy in Violet; Sam has to take the stand during a malpractice trial for a colleague, and Addison continues to fight her feelings for a very persistent Noah.
“What You Do for Love”
When a pregnant woman starts to show signs of heart complications, Addison rushes her St. Ambrose where Noah is standing by to help. Meanwhile at Oceanside Wellness, Sam notices Naomi frequently sneaking away from the clinic, and her elusiveness causes him to rethink their friendship; Pete's relationship with Lisa becomes complicated by Violet's ever-present pregnancy; and Sheldon decides it's time to take a stand.
“Yours, Mine and Ours”
As Violet chooses between Pete and Sheldon, a grief-stricken patient poses a danger to her; Addison faces her feelings for Noah as Morgan goes into labor; Dell has concerns for his daughter when a drugged-out Heather returns to town; and Naomi must decide if it's in her best interest to stay with Oceanside Wellness or start anew at Pacific Wellcare.
