‘Punk'd’ Co-Creator Plans Celebrity Prank Movie Series

Jason Goldberg, who co-created the hit MTV series Punk'd with Ashton Kutcher, has joined forced with STX Entertainment for a series of celebrity prank movies. There is no title for the project yet, but sources claim that each movie will be produced for just $5 million apiece, with plans to release each of them on or around April Fools Day. Warner Bros. is also backing the project and providing international distribution for the untitled project.

Insiders claim that each movie will feature either 9 or 10 segments that focus on a wide range of celebrities from comedians, dramatic actors, music and sports figures. It isn't known if Jason Goldberg himself will write these segments, or who will come on board as the director. It also isn't known if Ashton Kutcher himself will be involved in some way, either as a producer or possibly one of the victims of a prank.

‘Punk'd’ Confirms Return to MTV

MTV has confirmed that the reality series Punk'd will be returning to the network, although it is not known who will host the show. Series creators Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg are on board as executive producers, but Ashton Kutcher will not be hosting since he is still shooting this current season of Two and a Half Men.

The network is said to announce the host of Punk'd during its New Year's Eve celebration on December 31. Back in October 2010, we reported that pop star Justin Bieber was set to host this new version of Punk'd, although we haven't heard anything regarding his involvement on the show since then. This new report reveals the network may employ different celebrity hosts for each episode of the show, although that hasn't been confirmed yet.

‘Punk'd’ Gets Syndicated

MTV's realty prank show Punk'd, which is hosted by Ashton Kutcher, will go into TV syndication in the fall of 2008. According to Variety, twenty-two episodes will be made available to local affiliates for the 2008-09 season.

The series features such celebrity victims as Justin Timberlake, Jessica Alba, Britney Spears, Jessica Biel, Hugh Jackman, Katie Holmes and Lindsay Lohan.

Lots of ‘Punk'd’ on MTV

MTV is premiering the eighth season of Punk'd airing all eight episodes at once.

The cable network also said the upcoming season will be the last for the show from co-creator/executive producers Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg, The Hollywood Reporter says. As a tribute to the final season, Kutcher will host a special Punk'd Awards honoring all eight seasons at 9pm on June 5th.
