So You Think You Can Dance is a United States television reality program and dance competition airing on the Fox Broadcasting Company network. Season five premiered on May 21, 2009, with Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy returning as permanent judges and Cat Deeley returning to host. Jeanine Mason was crowned America's Favorite Dancer on August 6, 2009, making her the second female to win the show. This is the first season to move the show a new stage and last season to be in CBS Studios.

The third episode of the season brought Cat and crew to Los Angeles to search for stars. Los Angeles is also the home of the So You Think You Can Dance tapings and where the finalists reside while they're still in the running to become America's Favorite Dancer.

Vegas Callbacks #1

Six cities down, and now the best of the dancers are in Las Vegas. Bouncing and twirling down the hallways are 172 contestants. Nigel encourages the dancers to give it their all and enjoy the ride. The judging panel in Vegas consisted of Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, Debbie Allen, Adam Shankman, Lil C, and Mia Michaels.

Vegas Callbacks #2 (Top 20 Chosen)

It's the moment of truth. Which of these talented 32 dancers will make it to the live show as part of the Top 20? Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, Debbie Allen, Adam Shankman, Lil C, and Mia Michaels will be breaking the news to the contestants. Everyone is freaking out, shaking, stressing, and reflecting.

Ballroom dancer Janette Manrara is up first. She mentions that these have been the roughest couple of weeks leading up to Vegas. Janette was in a car accident and broke up with her boyfriend. She said if they tell her no, it will kill her. Fortunately, Janette's the first person in the Top 20, and she thanks the judges for the good news and celebrates.

Top 18 Perform

Last week was the first show where America got to vote, and Tony and Paris were sent packing. This week, the remaining 9 couples stayed together and took on a new style of dance that they pulled out of a hat after last week's results show. The "jidges" for the Top 18 included Lil C (one of the originators of crump), and as usual, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe. This week, it was time to find out something we didn't know about the dancers, as told to America by their partner.

Cat Deeley introduced the Top 18 from the balcony while looking stunning in a YSL suit. The dancers performed a group dance to "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder. They wore business suits and had tribal warrior tattoos on their face. If it wasn't obvious, Mia Michaels choreographed the routine.

Last week Ashley and Max were sent home, which meant that there would be a new couple amongst the eight couples performing tonight. Cat Deeley introduced the Top 16 contestants in an Alice and Olivia dress, Sergio Rossi shoes, Melinda Maria bracelets, and Vintage Indian earrings.

The night started off with a group routine to "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" by Pitbull. The dance was a fusion of Hip Hop and Samba choreographed by Napoleon and Tabitha. It was a sexy and sensual routine with tables and water splashing around. At the end of the routine, Cat emerged from a table on the dance floor. Too much fun!

The Top 14 put on some amazing performances, but unfortunately, two must go home. Cat introduced the show from the balcony in a Zara dress, vintage Chloe belt, Christian Laboutin shoes, and bracelets by Mulberry and Lanvi. The opening group dance was performed to "Brand New Day" from The Wiz (Original Soundtrack). Tyce Diorio choreographed this number about art coming to life. Returning to the judges' table were Mia Michaels, Mary Murphy, and Nigel Lythgoe.

The Top 12 took the stage to perform two dances with their partners. This would be the last time, at least for a bit, that the partners would be together before changing up the couples next week with the Top 10. After almost five full seasons, So You Think You Can Dance is on its 100th show. To celebrate this milestone, we revisited the best routines and memorable moments from past seasons. Despite all the celebration, one guy and one girl will be leaving the competition at the end of the night.

The remaining eight dancers kicked off the show with a phenomenal group performance to "One" from A Chorus Line (Original Broadway Cast). They danced with shattered mirrors and in identical costumes in a routine choreographed by Mia Michaels.

It's the last elimination before the finale! Cat introduced the show in a sparkly green vintage dress, diamond stud earrings, and Sonya Rykiel shoes.

"Send In The Clowns" by Judy Collins began to play, and the Top 6 dancers emerged from a present, while wearing clown costumes. The dancers used facial expressions, the help of makeup, and their bodies to evoke many emotions. This routine was choreographed by Tyce Diorio, who has done a tremendous job with choreography this year!

It's here! The Top 4 dancers have been selected and were ready to perform at the Kodak Theater. Cat, wearing Paul & Joe Jeans, Camilla Skovgaard shoes, and Top Shop earrings, introduced Brandon Bryant, Jeanine Mason, Evan Kasprzak, and Kayla Radomski to much applause, and their fellow finalists were in the audience cheering them on.

Welcome to So You Think You Can Dance...THE FINALE! Who is America's Favorite Dancer? We'd find out in two hours! In addition, some of the seasons most memorable dances would be performed.
